Terrazzo provides an elegant and durable finish that requires very little maintenance. With a wide range of colors there are endless design and pattern possibilities. Stonecoat terrazzo is a textured natural stone with a breathable finish that allows ground moisture to vacate the system without the threat of lifting or delaminating when subjected to severe temperature changes including freezing. Terrazzo is light weight and it's structural modifications of the existing substrate are unnecessary, saving time and exposure.
With our factory trained technicians there is a short installation time. The average job is completed in three days. Stonecoat's Terrazzo eliminates the cost of concrete removal and disposal as well as a non-staining Rustic Terrazzo system for both interior and exterior applications.
Stonecoat's Terrazzo is impact resistant and will accept: nails, screws, core drills and hammer drills. With terrazzo it is color fast and the natural stone color is throughout. It can be installed completely stain proof with no grout lines to discolor or stain. Terrazzo is the lowest life cycle cost of all flooring products. Our terrazzo has been approved by the board of public health for bacterial and fungus resistance as well as it's ability to provide a slip proof surface even under severely wet conditions.
Benefits of our Product
There are products in the industry that are similar to terrazzo but do not perform well for a variety of reasons. Generically they have been around for many years and have left a black mark for themselves and any product that resembles them. Porous epoxy applications referred to as PDC allow water to drain away under the stone surface so it appears dry quickly. When water is retained in the system it allows for algae and harmful bacteria to begin growing inside the stone. The board of health has disallowed it's use in many states for the reason especially on commercial applications. In applications with evergreen trees in close proximity the falling needles become lodged in the pores and are difficult and time consuming to remove because they will not dislodge easily with a broom or blower.
Epoxy is the only thing that binds the stone together. All epoxies are subject to degradation from the sun's ultra violet light. Over a short period of time (within two years) the epoxy is eliminated and a new coat of epoxy must be re-applied. Sinse the surface can not be cleaned 100% even with pressure washing, the old dirt is sealed into the stone and repeated every year making the deck look worse and worse. The stone is held together with a stone bond like the links of a chain. When the epoxy fails from the ultra violet rays, the surface begins to loose stone. At thie point the system looses it's integrity and the surface stone completely fails.
Rustic Terrazzo is an exterior, textured, natual stone finish for concrete developments and is manufactured exclusively by Stonecoat USA Inc. This thin set application is hand troweled by our own factory trained technicians and provides an attractive and durable finish to any new or existing concrete surface. It is mixed on site without the need for heavy equipment which can increase renovation costs when landscaping and fencing typically must be replaced after th eproject is complete. Rustic Terrazzo is designed to give a permanent non-slip finish that bonds to your existing concrete or membrane plywood surfaces, suitable for both renovation and new construction.
With cold climates like those found in New England, frost damage to concrete is very common. Concrete is pourous and as your deck ages the surface erodes and opens those pores allowing water to enter. This pooled water freezes during the winter months causing the new layer to seperate. Delamination is the major cause of application failure for many exterior concrete finishes such as tile flagstone, granite etc. With a major emphasis on pool decks, Stonecoat's Rustic Terrazzo is a maintenance free, headache free finish that never needs re-coating or sealing. Rustic Terrazzo is not a low end quick fix material that will only look good for a year or two, terrazzo is a strong permanent finish. "If you're going to give your pool deck a face life, make sure you only have to do it once."

Polished Terrazzo is an indoor finish and is generally installed as a commercial application. When you go down the list of hard surface flooring, Polished Terrazzo is always at the top. For commercial applications there is no better finish. Although the initial cost can appear expensive, it has the lowest life cycle cost of all it's rival competitors.

Hardscapes along with Rustic Terrazzo and Polished Terrazzo are also installed by Stonecoat USA. This includes natural stone and brick pavers for exterior applications such as decks and patios, walkways as well as retaining walls.
